We are looking for an enthusiastic, caring person who can bring joy and learning to our very special play environment. A person experienced in working with and caring for children with additional needs and their families.

Play will be provided in the child’s own environment and our hospice we therefore are looking for someone who can work to a high standard of discretion and confidentiality.

The successful candidate will be part of our team engaging families in play according to the individual capabilities of their child and, with support from the Play team, assessing children for their suitability and capability for therapeutic play. Enabling us to provide play opportunities for all the children who access our care.

Applicants are to be ideally educated and experienced in the following areas:

  • Level 3 in Early Years Care and Education or HLTA
  • Portage or specialism in special educational needs
  • A certificate in sign-a-long or Makaton
  • PECS
  • Safeguarding

This position will be based at both our Wimborne office and our hospice in Corfe Mullen. Travel is required across Dorset and at times Wiltshire to support our Devizes Hospice.  A full driving licence and use of a car for business purposes are essential.  Flexibility in working hours will also be required in this role.

Julia’s House is an award-winning children’s hospice charity dedicated to bringing comfort and care to families across the two counties.

Each family we support is unique and so is the care we provide. When a family finds out that their child has a very serious medical condition, which is life-limiting or life-threatening, their world falls apart. Julia’s House exists to help these children and their families.

To reach more children with life-shortening and life-threatening conditions and to set the gold standard in flexible, bespoke care that supports the whole family.

For local families of life-limited and life-threatened children to be able to access the help they need, when and where they need it and for every member of the family to feel supported, valued, cherished.
