Social Worker - Maternity Cover

Qualification requirements: 

Applicants for this role must be a Registered Social Worker Qualified to Degree level with current registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) with relevant post-qualification experience at Band 6 or equivalent level.

Experience or training/qualification of working with children/Young People and their families in Palliative Care and Bereavement. Safeguarding Training to Level 4 or working towards.

Line Management experience is also required as you will be managing two teams spread across the two counties.

You will be based at our Wiltshire or Dorset Hospice and work across Wiltshire and Dorset in the homes of the children we look after and be expected too:

  • To manage the Social Work provision for all Children/Young people and families supported by Julia’s House. Plan, establish and develop Social Support and the expansion of existing services for Julia’s House, in close liaison with the Family Support Services Lead and Strategic Nursing Team.
  • To take a lead role within Safeguarding (Adults and Children) for Julia’s House and for the Mental Capacity Act (MCA) and Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards, providing advice and guidance to colleagues in line with local council policy under the direction of the identified Safeguarding Leads.
  • To hold a caseload of patients and families with significant social, practical and emotional complex needs, delivering responsive and high quality social work support to patients and families.

Julia’s House is an award-winning children’s hospice charity dedicated to bringing comfort and care to families across the two counties.

Each family we support is unique and so is the care we provide. When a family finds out that their child has a very serious medical condition, which is life-limiting or life-threatening, their world falls apart. Julia’s House exists to help these children and their families.

To reach more children with life-shortening and life-threatening conditions and to set the gold standard in flexible, bespoke care that supports the whole family.

For local families of life-limited and life-threatened children to be able to access the help they need, when and where they need it and for every member of the family to feel supported, valued, cherished.
